All the FOB4-TS series sterilizers, in the basic version, require the presence of the following utilities at their installation site:

 electricity supply
 compressed air for the door opening system, door gasket pressurization and operation
  of automatic valves
 saturated steam for the sterilization process


If all these are not available, the sterilizer can be equipped with a small electric air compressor and/or an electric steam generator assuring high efficiency and low energy consumption (only 12 KW) with relative feed pump, both installable inside the sterilizers technical compartment. The sterilizers self-support structure is made of strong bars of AISI 304 stainless steel and supports the sterilization chamber, the generator and all the internal components. The outer cabinet that contains the machine is made of finely satin-finished stainless steel panels.

The sterilizer is placed directly on the floor and can be equipped with four robust wheels for easy moving and installation. Once it is connected to the utilities and its horizontal position has been checked to make sure it is correct (so as to assure perfect drainage of the chamber and connected piping), the 4 wheels are locked.
The very compact external dimensions of the sterilizer allow it to pass easily through doors and constricted spaces in laboratories and/or medical facilities.


 
 
 


Sterilization Chamber

The sterilization chamber, in the shape of a single-walled horizontal cylinder, is made entirely of AISI 316L stainless steel, TIG welded and electropolished with a mirror-finished surface to guarantee perfect cleaning, sterility and maximum resistance to corrosion.

The automatically closed door or doors to the chamber are of the vertical slide type. The door is operated by an exclusive pneumatic closing system.
Door safety by prevention of accidental opening of the doors during the sterilisation process is guaranteed by exclusive electromechanical protection systems and by the pressure exerted by the sealing gasket on the door. The pressurized chamber and door are insulated with an adequate layer of insulation with high thermal insulation characteristics.


 
 
 


Automatic doors

The FOB4-TS series sterilizers are equipped with automatic doors, which are distinguished from all alternative solutions by their ergonomic design, simple construction, reliability, safe operation and very low maintenance requirements. The door has a convex silhouette to increase its mechanical strength, and has no external reinforcement other than a single perimetral strip alongside the chambers sealing gasket.

Thanks to this structure the closing system can dilate freely during the heating process without any stress along welded reinforcement pieces which could impair its reliability. The doors are made out of AISI 316L stainless steel with perimetral reinforcement strip also of AISI 316L stainless steel, and are complete with protection casing of AISI 304 plate.
As in all Fedegari sterilizers, an essential and exclusive feature of the chamber sealing system is the special patented pneumatic gasket of siliconic rubber with swallow-tail cross-section.


   
 


Pass-through version for two-door pass-through sterilizers

The two-door sterilizers can be used as a communicating chamber between two rooms with different controlled contamination conditions. The perfect separation of the two areas onto which the sterilizers loading and unloading doors open is guaranteed by the use of special isolating flanges (bioseal) positioned between the body of the sterilizer and the wall through which the door of the sterilizer chamber opens.

This solution is installed as a standard fitting on the sterile side of two-door sterilizers (side 2) or, for special applications, on the loading side (side 1). As an optional kit (SF4X1), it can be installed on both sides. In this case it is advisable to specify this option right from the start as it involves some structural changes that cannot be implemented on a completely built machine.

In the pass-though version, a second operator interface (display) is installed on the unloading side and connected to the main one, which provides all the essential information on the process currently under way for complete supervision together with the various consents for loading and unloading the machine.


   
 


Hydraulic system

The hydraulic system is made entirely of AISI 316L stainless steel, equipped with exclusive automatic valves with pneumatic actuator and membrane of sanitary-use teflon, special sanitary-type connections and relative closing clamps for optimized maintenance. The process fluid pipes, like the chamber drain, are protected by easily inspected line filters.


   
 


Electrical system

All the electrical apparatus, with the exception of the command and measurement devices, are contained in an on-board panel with IP54 protection located inside the technical compartment. They are appropriately ventilated and easily accessible by removing the sterilizers removable side panel.

The sterilizers electrical system is built in compliance with the following European safety standards: EN 61010-1:2001-11 and EN 61010-2-040:2005-10 The electrical panel, installed in the machines technical compartment, is certified by the manufacturer and made of painted steel plate. All the outgoing cables from the panel pass through special insulated and sealed cable clamps to assure IP54 level protection. All the electrical components contained in the panel are certified and internationally available.

The general switch for the onboard electrical system is a certified component in compliance with IEC 408 and IEC 204, and is installed on the door to the electrical panel. All the electrical control and command circuits operate at safe low voltage (24 VCC/CA) and are identified by the specific colour of the leads.


   
 


Measurement and control probes

The FOB4-TS series sterilizers also use highly reliable control and monitoring devices:

temperature control probe:
Pt100 flexible probe with 4 wires (class 0.1 as per IEC 60751) with tip of AISI 316 stainless steel and silicone cable sheathe with response time < 6 sec at 90% bottom scale (BS); N. 1 flexible control probe in the chamber and No. 1 fixed probe in the drain well (coldest point)

pressure control probe:
N. 1 absolute 0-5 bar transducer, output signal 4-20 mA, piezoresistive type;

pressure indicators:
 1 pass-through DN35 for validation temperature probe
 1 fastener for control pressure gauge
 N 2 PED certified safety valves for the chamber and steam generator
 removable chamber drain filter made of AISI 316
 safety pressure switches for the door sealing system
 safety and control pressure switches/ thermostats for the chamber and steam generator
 emergency button on the front of the machine to switch off power supply in compliance
  with European standards
 emergency chamber pressure discharge valve
